Marina/Consult's founder, Edward J. Doherty, was a true visionary in the marina industry. A Director of the Marina Operators Association of America, he was the only marine professional in the United States who was a Counselor of Real Estate, a Certified Real Estate Appraiser and an IMI Certified Marina Manager. This unique professional combination was the result of an extensive background in marina management, investment, appraisal and consultation, acquisitions and dispositions, dockominium development and marketing, mixed-use waterfront development and management information systems for the marine industry.

As President of Kingman Marine Inc., owners of one of the largest marinas in Massachusetts, Ed was personally involved in management, permitting, construction, government relations, marine services and repairs; in short -- every aspect of marina management. Ed's skills and experience formed the foundation upon which he built Marina/Consult. His years of dedicated service to the industry, and his insistance that his support staff continue to acquire industry experience and knowledge, has enabled Marina/Consult to continue offering high-quality professional services to the marina industry. His chosen successor at the helm of Marina/Consult, Philip Economou, continues Ed's tradition of combining unique professional skills and bringing them to bear on the marina industry, as he is the only marine professional in the United States who is both a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Marina Manager.

Phil is the only marine professional in the United States who is a Certified Marina Manager and a Certified Public Accountant. As a developer partner/owner of Prince William Quay Marina in the UK, and Branford Marina in CT, as well as Operations Manager of Beach Marina, Seaview Harbor Marina and High Bar Harbor Marina in NJ, The Piers Marina, Pier 5 Marina and The Philadelphia Marine Center in PA, Phil combines his extensive hands-on operational and management experience with professional accreditations to offer Marina/Consult clients a unique combination of experience and expertise.

As an owner as well as manager, Phil has personally worked with marina owners, developers, lenders and governmental agencies through all phases of planning, acquisition, construction, leasing, project financing, budget and market value analysis, costing, legal documentation, marketing identity development, advertising, publicity, design and direct mail promotion, direct sales - including dockominiums, consumer financing and operations management.
